The Red Queen (Iracebeth of Crims) is the main antagonist in the film Alice in Wonderland (2010 film) and she is the main antagonist turned a main character in its sequel Alice Trough The Looking Glass. She is based upon the chess piece of the same name. The Red Queen (also known as The Bloody Big Head and The Bloody Red Queen) is played by Helena Bonham Carter in the 2010 film. In the 1985 film she is portrayed by Ann Jillian.
She has an extensive arrangement of fashion and changes her clothing through the films she has appeared in.
The Red Queen has the appearance of a swollen head, with heart shaped red locks. She is often portrayed with black, red or golden embroidered dresses. She appears regal, with a white painted face and blue eye shadow that extends to her brows with lush red lipstick. She is of average height with disproportionate limbs compared to her head. The rest of her is an average human size and shape woman with a youthful exterior. Most times her expressions appear angry, disgruntled or stoic in nature.
In the other films and portrayals she has different appearances, in the 1985 film her portrayal is in a long bright red gown that has long sleeves and attached red gloves. Her gown has a type of cape like extension that appears to be hooked to a brooch with gold and white ivory design on it. Her ensemble is completed with a top hat that is designed to resemble the tops of the chess piece with which she is based off. She has short cropped auburn hair in this adaptation.
In the 2010 film she portrayed as completely spoiled, callous, arrogant and very demanding, coercing her courtiers to agree with every word she says, almost blindly. She has become significantly paranoid, going so far as to execute her husband for fear that he would leave her for her sister. When she has a decision to make, she twiddles her fingers about as she decides. However after his redemption becoming good, altruistic, good hearted and so a good person.she is rude. Her qualities mirror that of the Queen Of Hearts, especially her tendency to want cut someone's head off for "treason".
In the original story she is also seen as quite nasty, but not as harsh. She is very strict and a bit cold. She attempts to teach Alice life lessons and how to be an adequate "queen". She can be rather bossy and rude, but not nearly does she have the same cruel reputation as the Queen Of Hearts. She is known for running quite fast getting nowhere and implying that those who only run fast getting "somewhere" are slower.
