Alice of Human SacrificeEdit

Alice Human Sacrifice, also known as Hitobashira Arisu or Alice of Human Sacrifice, is a J-Pop song by Yagami-P and is based on Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland. It uses KAITO, MEIKO, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len's VOCALOID and VOCALOID2 software.

OverviewEdit

This song tells of how a dream traps different forms of ALICE and lets them create their own world of Wonderland. It has a classical sound to it and is rather sadistic. Despite the darker, more twisted and slightly insane tone, the stories of the four/five ALICEs (in some versions, each ALICE is represented by a suit in the deck of cards) and the dream is sure to amuse mature Alice in Wonderland fans.

MeaningEdit

This song is representative of the vocaloids themselves. The first alice, MEIKO, was new and innovative and struck the path for others to follow. The second, KAITO, was well liked however his popularity didn't last and soon he was forgotten. The third, Miku, was a 'Queen'. Extremely popular and will 'reign' for eternity. Finally, the counterparts, Rin/Len, whom are the fourth alice follow the path left to them; however their popularity will not last and they will be "killed" by the next "ALICE".

OpeningEdit

The opening tells a short story of how a mysterious dream was created. The dream, unwilling to die, wants people to dream it. After much thought, the dream decides that it will lure humans into itself, allowing them to create it (and their own world) as they see fit. These humans become ALICEs and the worlds the create become Wonderland. In one human cover, voice actors speak this opening. The music begins to play when the opening ends.

English translation:

Once there was a small dream.

No one really knew who had dreamt it. Such a tiny dream it was.

The little dream thought,

"I don't want to disappear like this. How can I make people dream me?"

For a while, the dream pondered on this issue until it finally reached a solution.

"I will make humans dream me, and they shall create my world."

Japanese Romaji (transliteration):

Aru tokoro ni, chiisa na yume ga arimashita.

Dara ga mito no ka wakaranai. Sore wa chiisa na yume deshita.

Chiisa na yume wa omoimashita.

"Kono mama kiete iku no wa iya da.

Dousureba, hito ni boku o mite moraeru darou?"

Chiisa na yume wa kangaete kangaete, soshite tsui ni omoitsukimashita.

"Ningen o jibun no naka ni mayoikomasete, sekai o tsukurasereba ii to."

First VerseEdit

ALICE: Woman of the Spade (represented by MEIKO)

The first verse begins with the first ALICE, a woman represented by the color red. In order to get out of the woods, she cuts down all enemies that stand before her, creating a bloody wake and a violent Wonderland. But the first ALICE is then caught and imprisoned as a murderer, with her blood-soaked trails serving as the only remaining proof of her existence.

English lyrics:

The first ALICE was the wrathful woman of the spade

Rightouly she she held sharpened blade within her hand.

Never hesitating to slay all within her way

Creating paths of blood that followed her through Wonderland.

Deep into the darkened forest the ALICE walked the line

Captured and imprisoned as imbrordiment of sin.

If it weren't for the murderous wake left behind

No one would of suspected that she had ever been.

Romaji lyrics:

Ichibanme ARISU wa isamashiku

Ken o katate ni, fushigi no kuni.

Ironna mono o kirisutete

Makka na michi o shiite itta.

Sonna ARISU wa, mori no oku.

Tsumibito no you ni tojikamerarete.

Mori ni dekita michi igai ni,

Kanojo no sei o shiru sube wa nashi.

Interpretations:Edit

The first ALICE is often shown with a plain red and white dress and looks like MEIKO, the voice used to sing her verse. She has been linked with the Spade and made a mercenary in fandom.

Alternate Translations:

The first ALICE was a violent spirit, the woman of the spade,

She wandered through Wonderland until a strange sword was found,

With newfound power, she slew all in her way to power,

She created paths of blood that folled her through Wonderland,

Her hands growing redder with each step, the first ALICE slowly went mad,

Imprisoned in her sins, the murderer collasped in on herself,

For her crimes, she was all but forgotten,

And the first flower had fallen.

Second VerseEdit

ALICE: Man of the Diamond (represented by KAITO) The second verse centers around a young blue man who become the second ALICE. He is frail and sings out a mad blue Wonderland with his false and twisted notes. At the height of his glory, he is gunned down by a mad (lit. cross-eyed) man (implying he shot himself, looking cross-eyed and holding a gun in front of a mirror). With a red rose as his only remain, he, too is forgotten.

English lyrics:

The second ALICE was a frail blue man.

Singing out his own song

His notes created a mad blue world.

That second ALICE was that of a rose,

Just as he bloomed he was shot down by a cross eyed man.

He left a flower blooming sadly red,

With that as his sole remain

He is now long forgotten.

Romaji lyrics:

Nibanme ARISU wa otonashiku.

Uta o utatte, fushigi no kuni.

Ironna oto o afuresasete,

Kurutta sekai o umidashita.

Sonna ARISU wa, bara no hana.

Ikareta otoko ni uchikorosarete.

Makka no hana o ichirin sasake,

Minna ni mederare karete yuku.

InterpretationsEdit

The second ALICE is made to look just like KAITO, just as the first ALICE looks like and is sung as MEIKO. The second ALICE is shown with the Diamond. A popular rendering of this ALICE has him shoot himself out of insanity (looking cross-eyed in front of a mirror).

Alternate Translations:

The second ALICE was a neurotic soul,

Only wishing to be loved,

He had a wonderful voice,

And, attracting many a friend with it, was happy,

But, someone told him it was for his voice,

Fearing the truth, he attempted to run,

Trapped in his nightmare, he took his own life,

And the second flower fell.

The Third VerseEdit

ALICE: Girl of the Clover (represented by Miku Hatsune)

The third verse tells of a young green girl. She is physically flawless and seduces the people of her Wonderland into following her blindly, creating her own world. After being crowned queen of the world she has created, the third ALICE is caught up by a wicked fear, often represented by the fear of death or demonic visions. However, she is unable to escape her curse and must remain queen forever.

English lyrics:

The third ALICE was a green girl.

Seducing many people, her Wonderland was quite twisted.

Using her body as a poison to the eye,

Countless lives she tricked.

The third ALICE, now crowned the queen

Found herself caught up in a distorted dream.

What she feared most of all was losing to death,

Ruling at the highest peak, she fights off eternal rest.

Romaji lyrics:

Sanbanme ARISU wa osanai ko.

Kirei na sugata de, fushigi no kuni.

Ironna hito o madowasete.

Okashi na kuni o tsukuriageta.

Sonna ARISU wa, kuni no joou.

Ibitsu na yume ni torisukarete.

Kuchiyuku karada ni obiengara,

Kuni no chouten ni kunrin suru.

InterpretationsEdit

As her verse uses Miku's voice, the third ALICE is portrayed as Miku Hatsune wearing various green dresses. This ALICE is linked with the CLUB or the CLOVER in fanon.

Alternate Translations:

The third ALICE was the girl of the clover, and very beautiful was she,

Desiring power, she used poison to get her way,

When her first attempts failed, however,

She enchanted those who ruled,

When she achieved her goals,

Her mind also went, seeing the dead all around her,

In an attempt to escape, she drank the very thing that brought her to power,

And the third rose thus fell.

Fourth VerseEdit

ALICE: "Twins" of the Heart (represented by Rin and Len Kagamine) The fourth and final verse is about the last yellow ALICE. This time, ALICE is two "twins", often shown as the opposite sides of a mirror. The older sister is stubborn and lovely, while the younger brother is calm and intelligent. These ALICEs are very curious, exploring many worlds including the past ALICEs' Wonderlands. They have tea beneath a rosebush and have arrived to the dream through a yellow boat during the Third ALICE's reign. Although they were the closest to being the true ALICE (Lewis Caroll's Alice perhaps, though this is unknown), something happens and they end up forever wandering around and never waking from the dream. What happened to them has many different interpretations, listed below.

English lyrics:

Sometime when all of this was happening,

Two lives had tea beneath the rosebush.

Their invitation from the palace was

the ACE of HEARTS.

The fourth ALICE were twin children.

Filled with pure curiosity, they explored Wonderland.

Passing through many bogus and strange worlds, they had arrived on a yellow boat.

A stubborn older sister

And intelligent younger brother

They came the closest to being the real ALICE, but...

Never can they wake out of the their dream.

Lost in Wonderland they'll explore forevermore.

Romaji lyrics:

Mori no komichi o tadottari

Bara no ko no shita de ochakai.

O-shiro kara no shoutaijou wa

HAATA no TORANPU.

Yonbanme ARISU wa futaho no ko.

Koughkishin kara, fushigi no kuni.

Ironna tobira o kugurinukete.

Tsuisakki yatte kita bakari.

Ko no tsuyoi ane to

Kashikoi otouto

Ichiban ARISU ni chikatta kedo..

Futari no yume wa, semanai mama.

Fushigi no kuni o samayotta.

InterpretationsEdit

The twin ALICES, like Rin and Len, are given a yellow color theme. They are the only ones in the original song to be given a suit (Heart). The reason for why they are trapped within the dream forever varies. Many imagine that as the twins passed through the worlds, they were killed by the first or third ALICE. Some believe that upon seeing the First ALICE's prison, out of insanity the First ALICE killed them. Others believe that the Ace of Hearts was a trap set up by the third ALICE. Another theory is that the brother killed his sister. But the last idea simply shows them wandering forever with nothing happening to them. A cover of this song has the sound of a gunshot, implying murder, while the original song simply has a very low note for about two seconds, allowing the listener to come up with their own ending.

Alternate Translations:

Out of the distance, a pair of Twins appeared,

Searcing the grounds they found many things,

Proving the exsistence of other lives in the Wonderland,

And the children, drawn by curiosity, went deeper in,

Said Twins were indeed the fourth Alice,

Thier curiosity drove them as they wandered throughout,

Their imaginations moving their feet,

Neither could imagine the horrors that had happened here,

As they wandered, they got lost,

The sister for Right, the brother for left, In a moment of unexplained rage,

The Boy wandered wonderland carrying his sister's body.

And the fourth rose fell.

FanonEdit

The song has been proven to be extremely popular in fanon, with many videos, or PVs (promotional videos), were made of this song. Several versions have even been made for other fandoms. A voice drama was created as well.

This drama adds more depth to the characters and makes the dream into a young boy wearing oversized clothes and sporting black hair that covered his eyes. Each time an ALICE falls, he reinacts their story with tiny dolls. He confronts each ALICE, giving them the choice of whether they wanted to become an ALICE or not. The red ALICE, taken out of a battle, ends up in the center of a town. She goes insane and ends up killing almost everyone until she is finally caged and abandoned right in front of the blue ALICE's eyes. After his confrontation with the red ALICE (whom he calls 'Red'), he sings his verse for a small group of people and proceeds to loose his grip on reality and kill himself.

There is a timeskip to show the green ALICE as a queen. She is confronted by the dream, and after a series of haughty remarks anger the dream, has her singing voice taken away from her. The third ALICE is given a story in this drama; she ran away from a circus. Next come the yellow ALICEs. After deciding to become ALICEs, they wander aimlessly around the different worlds until they receive the Ace of Hearts, an invitation to the green ALICE's palace. There they have a small chat with one of the third ALICE's servants, who bears a striking resemblance to the first ALICE. They are then killed, leaving the dream all alone, but apathetic to its situation.

A group of fans also got together and created their own cover. They include the small opening story of the little dream and a gunshot in the middle of the fourth verse. MANY english dubs have been made of this song.

The "Spirit of Wonderland", as the dream has also been called, has been changed to fit the will of the user, quite often, ranging from the boy with the oversized clothes, to a young girl, to an elderly woman.
